Political Party Bijlmer Style presents their official campaign song and music video ‘Vuisten in de lucht’ (‘Fists up in the air’) by Gikkels featuring Dret. The Party is running this year’s local government election for the South-East part of Amsterdam.

Gideon ‘Gikkels’ Everduim will be parading on the voter registration form together with lead candidate Robert Coblijn. Dret won the big Dutch price together with his partner Krulle in the category Hip-Hop in 2009.

Gikkels has stunned the media before with his track ‘Doofpot’ (‘the cover-up’). He wrote and released the song as a reaction to a statement once made by police chief Welten, in which he claims that the high violence and criminal rate in the Bijlmer is to blame on Hip-Hop music. As an aftermath of this track, Robert Coblijn en Gikkels started the Political Party Bijlmer Style with the goal to represent the youth of Bijlmer within the local politics and to function as a lynchpin between the street and local authorities.
