In the night of 25 September 2010 Amenda and I (Kno’Ledge) joined the 40 km sponsor walk from Rotterdam to The Hague that started exactly at midnight. It was not an easy thing to do, but we did it. It was a long walk, matter of fact, the longest walk we have ever partaken. But I will be underestimating if I tell you it was worth it.
I don’t know how to explain it to you but I feel this intense joy inside. It is just wonderful and at the same time inspirational to be able to do this little for the struggling people of DR Congo. Through the cold, rain, wind, spasms, bad shoes, and all the other obstacles along the way I can say with a straight face we were more than happy to do this.
The Soul Rebel Movement would like to give a great thank you to everyone who sponsored the team. With your support we collected 350 Euros in just 3 weeks. You are the true heroes. We thank you on the behalf of the great Congolese people who will receive the aid. We also would like to thank the people who were sending uplifting messages to us throughout the walk.
The long walk for us is over, but the problems in the Democratic Republic of the Congo remains. Stichting Vluchteling (Refugee foundation) has raised more than 100.000 Euros. The money will be spend on medical aid for victims of extreme sexual violence in the ongoing conflict in Africa’s third largest country. There is a lot of work to do for the world community. If you are inspired by our effort and like to help the struggling people of Congo, we would like to direct you to the following websites: www.womenforwomen.org (global) and www.stichtingvluchteling.nl (local).
