Peace to you brother, peace to you sister
by Kno’Ledge Cesare
Everyday I count my blessings
How did yesterday go?
Seems to be the appropriate question
But times is off the essence
I got something to make up to God
Before I leave
Only those who know my heart,
Know why I weep
Peace to you brother, peace to you sister
Across the street there lives a couple
They need to live and let live
Everyday there’s trouble
When the kids are at sleep
Just one of those nights
Screaming and kicking, verbal war
Someone forgot to switch off the lights
The kids heard it all
Peace to you brother, peace to you sister
My aunt loves God more than you do
Day by day, she prays and prays
For the devil’s downfall
That means me and you too
It’s hard to find mercy
At the hands of a born again
They go to church each Sunday
But will never say a word to an old friend
Peace to you brother, peace to you sister.
There are white brothers and sisters
Who really care about our well being
They too are victims
Of the greed of another human being
They pack their bags and leave for Africa
They mean well for our freedom
Every time I see them
I greet them with a laughter
Peace to you brother, peace to you sister.
There’s only so much a community can take
This morning another brother died
Where do we draw the line?
Or is it too late?
If you have a daughter or son
I know you want the best for your children
A change will come,
No matter who is doing the fighting.
I wish for you nothing but greatness
Prosperity and fortitude
I wish for mental strength
A new way of thinking and a new attitude
You are great, you are the best
You are more than sport and entertainment
You are the face on the Pyramid
I weep when you settle for less
Peace to you brother, peace to you sister.
