Addressing the mass meeting held in the People’s Palace in Conakry on May 13, Amilcar Cabral spoke of the cancer of betrayal which he said has been responsible for Nkrumah’s death.
“We the libration movements’ he said ‘will not forgive those who betrayed Nkrumah. The people of Ghana will not forgive. Progressive mankind will not forgive.”
He went on. “For us the best homage we Africans can render to the immortal memory of Kwame Nkrumah is to strengthen vigilance at all levels of the struggle, to intensify it, and to liberate the whole of Africa. To succeed in the development of the economic, social and cultural progress of our peoples, and in the building of African unity: this was the fundamental objective of the actions and thought of Kwame Nkrumah.”
