OPEN LETTER: Operation Odyssey Dawn & The Western Hypocrisy

I have always belief that the good-will international community must act when the rights of civilians elsewhere are being trampled. When dictators arise and the people reject it, the international community must in no circumstance hesitate to choose the side of the people. In fact we must always choose the side of the people. This is morally right and humanly just.
So I have nothing against Bush invading Afghanistan and Iraq, operation UNOSOM-II in Somalia, Desert Storm and now Operation Odyssey Dawn. Because lets get it straight, there’s no denial that the situation of the people in those countries at those times were life threatened. The situations all asked for immediate intervention from the world community. People were oppressed, brutalized, murdered. Based on humanitarian grounds, if you are real and sincere you will agree with me that the interventions were justified.
BUT if the world community chooses to get rid of crazy leaders a.k.a. dictators, they must be willing to go after all the bad guys as well. To secure peace as they sold it to the people, the world body must go the whole nine yards. The NATO and its allies cannot be seen as favouritism, preferential elite going after oil and natural resources. We cannot tell one country show restraint (Yemen) and tell the other with a similar conflict we are coming after you (Libya). We cannot leave one country for dead (Somalia) and invade another country (Iraq) because it happens to have oil. We cannot veto one resolution to secure peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the other minute drop bombs to secure interest.
On 18 February, the US lost my respect and that of many neutral observers when it vetoed international call for settlement freeze on Occupied Palestinian Territory. In the real world if a friend commits a crime, as a good friend you point out his wrongdoings. And if he continues to do so you distance yourself from that person. If Israel will ever extinct, what I sincerely hope never occurs, the US shares equal blame. The US is allowing Israel to become an evil friend, when it can help it becomes a respected friend and partner of the world community.
You cannot justify that with a straight face. Not to mention matter of weeks later you are flying planes over Libya saying we want peace. Why is peace in Libya more important than in Palestine? Why does the West openly criticize Gaddafi but let Saleh of Yemen get away with the killings of his people? In Bahrain the people are asking for a regime change and you are negotiating a reform. How good is a reform if the same people are staying in power?
If we need Operation Odyssey Dawn in Libya, we need Operation Odyssey Dawn in every country where people are suffering just as in Libya or even more so. I am not saying this because I want war, on the contrary. I am making this appeal because I want a just world. The hypocrisy needs to stop. Once and for all the world body needs to make up a document that states clearly when to impose a no-fly-zone, or if necessary invade a country. Gaddafi is not the only crazy dictator out there, there are equal foes if not greater foes out there.
In the United Nations Security Council the US, China and Russia has continuously used their veto right to obstruct moral decisions by the international community to protect their own interests. This veto right which is assigned to only 5 countries to decide about the world should be replaced with vast rules. If you want the world to look at you as just leaders who got heart for all people all over the world, earn it. I don’t care rich or poor, first world or third world, natural resources or desert, every country should be treated equally. We owe it to the struggling people, we owe it to the people back home, and we owe it to our children and family. We owe it to our conscious before we go to sleep. This is morally right and humanly just.
