JAPAN EARTHQUAKE: Widespread destruction, Survivors cling to hope.

And so we are at this road again. On March 11th the world was struck by another natural disaster which devastated the north-east coast of Japan, triggering a massive tsunami. This disaster has left many people homeless, petrified and uncertain for the future. Days after the disaster bodies are still being covered and many, many people are missing. As always the disaster shocked the world and condolences immediately poured in and governments across the world offered assistance to the authorities in Japan. World leaders reacted and celebrities tweeted their sympathy. Relief organisations have set up donation programs and seeing the impact it has had on the world they are expecting positive results.

You talk about sobering moments. After seeing the live footages of the disaster I would give the shirt of my back to keep a victim warm. This is a sad story and sadly one we have seen too often and against our wish we will continue to witness. Natural disasters are not new and recently we have witnessed Indian Ocean tsunami, Katrina, Haiti and now Japan. So every now and then I will tell this story all over again. Men cannot predict the attitude of nature, after all we are only human and this is the price we pay for being here on this earth. Until the next outburst what’s asked of the government is to do anything in its power to minimize the destruct.
The SRM holds the memories of the victims of the earthquake in Japan dear in our hearts. Our condolences go to the families of the victims as they deal with this great disaster and we hope the casualties will be limited.
