H<\/b>appy mother\u2019s day to all the mothers in the Arab world whose sons and daughters has taken it to the streets. Since the revolution got off the ground, some of you have become a widow or lost a child. And those who are spared such a tragedy are left with furthermore worries a heart can\u2019t take. Every morning when the sun lit the dawn, you find yourself alone praying and hoping your children will return home safe, hoping they do not end in the claws of the bestial police and thugs of the regime. Seeing the evil system <\/b>your country is facing you have every right to be worried. After all, with each passing day you have already lost many sons, daughters and husbands. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
I know these developments are breaking your heart and it\u2019s not an easy pill to swallow, but you raised good sons and daughters. They will not fail you. This is the fight you prepared them for. You never said it to them like: go and fight the oppressor, disobey the phony law, fight for freedom. No, you probably never said such things, but you raised them well enough to see injustice when it befalls them. You loved them enough to make out for themselves what is love and what is hate. They say a mother\u2019s love is peace; you have raised peace and peace it will be. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
In this extraordinary time we have seen courage that we thought was never there. This is exceptional bravery that has surprised friend and foe of the Arab World. Failed leaders who thought they were safe are now running for cover, because someone in the distance yelled to them the revolutionary youth are coming. You can be proud of your children. I know this makes your heart smile. You have sacrificed for your children and now they are sacrificing for their country. The country will survive, the dictators will not. And those who sacrificed their life will be remembered, and hold a special place in our hearts. I know that no victory can replace your personal loss, for every mother loves her child forever. But I hope that the historical significance of their sacrifices will help you find the strength you need to get through this.<\/div>\n
